It was 10 years ago when I heard that they were implementing this new program in the schools called Sogi123.
And it was to uh supposedly to help people understand what it’s like to be transgender. And so these kids would feel welcome in school. But it was actually a Trojan horse to uh to bring in an ideology that is toxic to families.
It uh confuses children. It urges them to ruin their bodies. It’s turned, it’s caused many divorces.
It’s caused the division of many extended families as they debate this.
So in uh October 23rd of 2017, I made a public statement that transitioning children was child abuse.
And I was not prepared for the vitriol that was poured on me by all the multi multiple um news media outlets, union leaders, um even my fellow colleagues on the school board, and even many so-called Bible believing churches who thought I was being unkind to these poor kids that were suffering gender dysphoria. But I knew that I was standing on the side of truth. I stuck with it and uh I got a complaint at the human rights tribunal that I was creating a toxic work environment and uh from there it went on to accusing me of hate speech.
It dragged on and on and on and some people said, “Berry, you made your point. Why don’t you just shut up and be quiet?”
But kids were continuing to have their bodies and their lives wrecked and I couldn’t stop.
So it was about two years ago. I I had up for for the first six years I had government lawyers covering for me. But they came to me two years ago and they said, “Barry, the teachers union is getting tired of this nonsense and they want to settle.”
I said, “What do they want?”
“Well, they want you to publicly apologize. They want you to take a course so you understand what transgender is all about. Uh they want you to um uh promise to never run for public office in Canada again and they want you to donate $50,000 to an alphabet charity.
And I said, “Well, I’ll think about it.” So I thought about it. I talked to my pastor and he said, “Well, who are you apologizing to?” I said, “I don’t know. They won’t give me anybody’s names.”
He says, “Well, without without any names, there’s nothing to apologize for.” And I said, you know, I just went back to university and I got my master’s degree here in 2010 and I put more work into studying this gender ideology than I ever did my degree in theology. Amen.
There’s no way they can convince me this is a good idea. I said to school teachers, they don’t have a right to tell me I can’t run for public office. And even though the $50,000 isn’t mine, the insurance company said, “We’ll pay the we’ll pay the fine. Just just agree, settle.
I said, “Even if the money’s not mine, I don’t want it to go on an organization that will convince kids to ruin their bodies.” So he said, “Well, what do you want to do with this offer?”
I told him in rather coarse language that I wasn’t going to accept it. And I told the lawyers that and the insurance company promptly cut me off and that was it. I was on my own. And in the last two years, the human rights tribunal and the teachers have gone absolutely nuts harassing me.
I do have a lawyer now that’s representing me, James Kitchen. He’s a friend of Barry Bussey’s.
And um now the fine has gone up to $750,000.
I am appealing it. And there there have been others along the way that have tried to take up this battle and I’m still at it. You know why? Because it says in the good book that blessed are you when men shall persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.
I believe that I am honoured just as St. Peter was just as many of the early martyrs were. I’m honoured to be sharing
in the persecution that our Lord suffered when he went to Calvary.
