Tonight, Barry joins me to walk through his case: the jurisdiction argument over online speech, the Charter challenge, what this could mean for every Canadian posting about controversial policy online, and what this fight has actually cost him.
Barry Neufeld, former Chilliwack school trustee, was found by the BC Human Rights Tribunal to have violated the Human Rights Code through his public statements opposing SOGI 1 2 3 — and ordered to pay damages estimated at $750,000. Now he’s taking his case to the BC Supreme Court, arguing the Tribunal made 12 legal errors and that his statements were protected free speech, not discrimination.
