On May 24, CHP (Christian Heritage Party) National Leader Rod Taylor and former National Leader Ron Gray presented Barry Neufeld with the First Annual Ron Gray Moral Courage Award in recognition of his courageous work as a Chilliwack School Trustee in challenging the SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) resources being imposed on students in BC public schools.

Quoted from the decision: "... In 2017, the Ministry approved resources and tools aimed at fostering a SOGI-inclusive education environment in all schools. These resources are referred to as “SOGI 1 2 3”.
... The backlash to SOGI 1 2 3 was immediate. One of its loudest critics was the Respondent, Barry Neufeld. At the time, Mr. Neufeld was an elected trustee of the Chilliwack Board of Education [the Board]. For the next five years of his tenure as a trustee, Mr. Neufeld engaged in a high-profile public campaign against SOGI 1 2 3..."
Decision: Mr. Neufeld to pay $750,000.00
